Fees and Insurance

Please call me at (360) 752-0457 for current rates. Fees are payable in full by check or cash at the time of the appointment. This office is set up to take direct payment only, not credit or debit cards.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation if you wish to meet to discuss whether acupuncture can help you.

Payment is due at the time of service, unless otherwise arranged. As a courtesy, this office will bill your insurance but you are ultimately responsible for any payment due to Nancy T. Moore, M.Ac., L.Ac.

If you have been injured in a motor vehicle accident, all of your care with me is completely covered by the Personal Injury Protection (PIP) clause of your (or the other driver’s) auto insurance. This is a separate system from your health care insurance plan, and this office will bill the auto insurance company directly.

INSURANCE

Please note that not all conditions are covered by insurance for acupuncture treatment. It is your responsibility to know and understand your insurance policy. You should call your insurance company to find out what is covered under your particular policy.

Whatever balance the insurance company does not pay is the responsibility of the patient, even if it exceeds your co-pay. That is, if your co-pay is $25 per session and your insurance company then denies part of the claim for your session, you are responsible for that difference.

If you pay at the time of treatment this office will NOT bill insurance later for your sessions, because of the added cost of tracking and paperwork. If you decide you want insurance reimbursement later, this office will provide you with the diagnostic and treatment codes so that you can submit claims yourself.

I am a preferred/participating provider for the following insurance companies:

Prior to your first visit you should check with your insurance company to determine:

  1. if you are covered for acupuncture;
  2. whether you need a physician’s referral for treatment or can determine this for yourself;
  3. if there are any limits on the number of visits you’re allowed per year (often 12 or 18 in Washington state, but each plan is different);
  4. the amount of your co-pay; and
  5. whether any acupuncture visits must first apply to your deductible.

Numbers 4 and 5 are very important!

Please have this information plus your insurance card with you for your first visit. This is your responsibility.

Unfortunately, Group Health and Regence BC both closed their doors at least 15 years ago to acupuncturists moving to Washington state. Therefore, I am not a provider for these two insurers. You can help change this situation—and give yourself more options for different practitioners—by complaining to these two companies … loudly, and often.

Medicaid and Medicare do not cover acupuncture.

If you have questions or concerns, please feel at ease in discussing these with me. My office number is (360) 752-0457. Please leave a message and I’ll call you back just as soon as I’m able.
